React Native 4.0 release

Released

We’ve updated our React Native SDK, adding CDP features so you can seamlessly integrate with destinations beyond Customer.io—like your analytics platform, CRM, or data warehouse. Customer.io can be your customer data platform (CDP) for free!

React Native 4.0 release

Where previous releases were mostly limited to sending message-related events (like the Push Opened event) to other platforms, this new release makes it much easier to send any data from your React Native app to the rest of your martech stack—the people you identify, the events you track, the screens people visit, and so on. And, unlike traditional CDPs (Segment, Rudderstack, and so on), you don’t have to pay for this feature. You get a CDP for free with your Customer.io subscription!

The new React Native release includes the following features:

  • CDP features: React Native 4.0 lets you send any data from your app to destinations beyond Customer.io—like your analytics platform, CRM, or data warehouse—all included in your plan.
  • Anonymous tracking: You can send anonymous events, and we’ll reconcile anonymous activity with your users when you identify them.
  • Built-in lifecycle events: the SDK now automatically captures events like “Application Installed” and “Application Updated” for you, so you better understand your users’ behaviors in your app.
  • New device data: the SDK captures complete device-level context, like your audience’s screen dimensions, device names, and more.

While this release represents a significant change under the hood, we made every effort to limit the impact to your code. Most of the changes you’ll make are to your initialization code and push setup, but many functions work exactly as they did in previous releases!
